Dear Signal Hill Families,

We are happy to see the sun today after some weeks of wild weather! We were happy to connect with families at parent/teacher interviews this week. The holiday excitement continues to build around Signal Hill with lots of planning for upcoming activities like the craft fair, winter concert film, and holiday sing-alongs with Mr. Walden. Check out some of the amazing winter art adorning our hallways below.

A few reminders and updates:

The Signal Hill Early Act club is running a holiday food drive, and we would love for you to bring in canned, bagged or boxed foods between December 6th - 16th. We will have a box at the front entrance for food donations.

Signal Hill’s blended classes have been very busy creating a variety of handmade goods for our Winter Craft Fair! Students will have an opportunity to shop at the Winter Craft Fair on Tuesday, December 7th. Some of the items for sale include: jewelry, ornaments, toys, artwork, candles and even some pet treats! Most items are priced between $1-$5, and payment is cash only. All proceeds will be used to fund school field trips. Thank you for your support!

International Travel and COVID-19

As the world is starting to open up for travel, please see the measures in place at this time for International travel.

The Government of Canada has put in place emergency measures under the Quarantine Act to slow the introduction and spread of COVID-19 and variants in Canada. Fully vaccinated travellers without signs and symptoms of COVID-19 are not required to quarantine upon entering Canada if they comply with the requirements in this handout.

Unvaccinated children less than 12 years of age who enter Canada with a fully vaccinated parent, step-parent, guardian or tutor, are not required to quarantine if the child follows all the requirements for fully vaccinated travellers and complies with the conditions of the Minister of Health in this handout.

Please see following conditions in the Minister of Health handout. Note they are other
sections in this handout.

Requirements for an unvaccinated child less than 12 years of age:

For 14 days after arrival, the child must not:
• attend school, camp or day care
• attend a setting where they may have contact with vulnerable people (e.g., longterm
care facility), including people who are immunocompromised, regardless of that
person's vaccination status or public health measures
• travel on crowded public transportation that does not ensure physical distancing and
masking
• attend large crowded settings, indoors or outdoors, such as an amusement park or
sporting event

Further information on what your child can and cannot do can be found on the mandatory
