Dear Signal Hill Families,

As we move towards a well deserved Family Day long weekend we are reflecting on a fun and educational week here at Signal Hill. Of course we celebrated love and caring in its many forms on Monday for Valentines day. You really could feel the love in our building with the school and classes celebrating in unique ways. As well, Ms. Belyea, Ms. Casey, and Ms. Siblock's classes went on a cross-country skiing field trip.

Pink Shirt Day aims to reduce bullying by celebrating diversity in all its forms and supporting schools, workplaces and communities to be safe, supportive, welcoming and inclusive of all people.

Illness Reporting

As you are aware, Provincial Health will be considering student attendance information over the next couple of weeks. To support this, districts have been asked to establish baseline data for monitoring student illnesses.

Therefore, schools are being asked to specify in their daily attendance, absences due to illness. While the type of illness is not to be specified, it provides a comparison between students being absent due to illness versus a number of other reasons (vacation, field trips, medical appointments, athletics, injuries, etc.).
In an effort to best monitor student attendance information, we are asking parents to please specify if their child(ren)’s absence is due to illness. Again, it is not necessary to specify the illness.

We thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain accurate student information.
